The endless hours of painful homework, small fortunes spent on tutoring with little or no result, disappointing report cards, self-esteem and confidence slowly drifting away... We ask ourselves; “Is this the way it’s supposed to be?”, “Is there something I’m doing wrong?” and “This can’t be right!” Fortunately, my relentless desire to find a solution, paid off.

This is the story of a happy nine year-old Anglophone child, who attended a pri­vate French elementary school with the objective of acquiring the language prop­erly. Well, we learned that it’s easier said than done for some. So, we tried French tutors, as well as reading and math pro­grams. Result; 20 minutes of homework was still taking us hours and eating away all of what little family time was left. (Not to mention whatever savings we had as well!) The report cards showed small im­provements, but did not reflect the time and energy we were putting into this. My child was not so happy anymore ... Why were the reading, comprehension, and math marks still suffering? We had noth­ing left to try, so we sought the exper­tise of a neurophysiologist. The results showed that my child is dyslexic. And so the journey continues!

Following this diagnosis were many endless nights of reading books and going through websites. The knowledge acquired allowed me to understand all the pains and struggle my child and I went through together. It all made sense, but again I asked myself, “What can I do?” My child is blessed with such an amazing brain in so many ways, but it can’t allow him to read or comprehend properly. At this time, we began to seek programs aimed at correcting dyslexia and finally we came across the one that would eventually produce the results that we were seeking. The program, Cellfield, was designed to work with the source of the problem rather than the result of it. Now that was music to my ears! This revolutionary computer-based program was designed in order to connect the pathways required to read and comprehend the way most people do naturally.

Today, my child is 12 years old with an above 86<>percentage<> average. Even more important; focus, self-esteem and confidence are back (right on time for high school!). Regular tutor­ing finally works and this is because my child acquired the tools to read and comprehend faster. Amazingly, my child has become independent and does homework efficiently thus allowing our family to enjoy our precious time doing the stuff we enjoy again!
